Day 4 - Xena: Warrior Princess (and Hercules too, just not as much)

Really? You want to know why, really?

Alright, just in case you aren't as old as me...

Two women who love each other and kick ass. (ditto for Hercules, only with guys) One who was innocent about the world and one who has seen every piece of darkness it has to show (and *been* most of the scariest things at one point or another). It's a timeless story, really, but it was fantastically done and in amongst New Zeland scenery with the backdrop of what was - at the time - incredibly understated and yet still impressive special effects... Just awesome.

Ted Raimi, Hudson Leick, Bruce Campbell, Kevin Smith (sadly now deceased), Karl Urban, Victoria Pratt... So many actors you will know and love from other things started or at the very least stared in this show.

I'm sure there's lots of things I should say about this show. If you only ever see one episode, it should be "Here She Comes... Miss Amphipolis" for the fact that it was banned in some countries for what it said about transvestitism and gay culture. There is a lot of joy and love and laughter, and also a lot of anger, sadness and loss. It's real life, amplified. One or the other (or both) of the lead characters dies at the end of EVERY SEASON, just in case you were starting to think it was realisic or anything ;)
