Sherlock rambling and speculation

Let me start with HOLY FUCKING SHIT. My housemate nearly *ran* from the living room so he could go and have a private cry in his room (there was lots of nose blowing), while I sat there on the sofa and pretty much *died*.

Oh John... we love you so. You're going to make the most ridiculously good Hobbit, but for fuck sake get back here and make another season.

I'm really glad that I spent some time reading about the story 'the 7% solution' before I watched the episode, because it meant I jumped on the idea of 'Moriarty isn't real' quite quickly, and didn't feel a dozen steps behind everyone.

I still can't believe how much fic was written about the episode just based on the teaser (which I didn't watch). It's so complex, how could anyone hope to capture the essence of an epsiode before it aired? I'm even more glad for the hundreds of fics currently pouring in giving us some emotional resolution.

Here's my thoughts -

It's a magic trick. "Keep your eyes fixed on me, don't look away." The body that fell from the roof was Moriarty in Sherlocks clothes. Don't ask me how they switched clothes so quickly, I don't know. The reason it looked *so much* like Sherlock is simply a matter of the observation. If you are fixed on something about to happen, that's what you see. They've done that before - ie with us seeing the guys at the different locations panicking, because that's what was perceived to be happening. It wasn't Sherlock that fell. Also - "I am *you*."

Big head wound, still potentially for bloodflow, gunshot wound concealed within the mouth; as long as Molly was the one doing the autopsy, they could get away with that.

With his mind on deleting Rick Brookes from the surface of the planet, switching any relevent stored material (fingerprints, even DNA) would be something that Molly would be able to do with access to both individuals. Mycroft might know, if he identified the body. That said, Molly knew him well enough that she could have formally identified the body anyway.

Whether or not Sherlock organised for the one witness to might notice the difference to be concussed at the right moment... well he was very insistant he was stood right where he was, in the road, and I could imagine a connection with the homeless network, possibly, or just pure chance. I like the idea that he organised that.

I think he not only orchestrated the bike messenger hitting John, but he also had Molly make sure the body was taken away immediately. It was pretty suspicious that the paramedics just swooped in and loaded it on a gurney and wheeled it off before the police had come to investigate or anything. I'm sure Lestrade had a fit when he got there!

It was pretty obvious that Sherlock was going to pull some kind of switcheroo so I was watching closely for it. It was definitely Benedict (or a VERY good stunt double) during at least part of the fall, and it was definitely Benedict lying on the sidewalk just before the paramedics came. I'll be disappointed if they come back and tell us that was Moriarty's body on the sidewalk and substitute shots of Andrew Scott falling in the replay. I know we're meant to be seeing it through Watson's eyes and he might very well think he saw one man when he was actually seeing another (especially after getting knocked in the head), but it would still feel dishonest if they filmed it that way. I'm hoping Sherlock figured out some way to jump without killing himself and just faked the blood and being dead after he landed.

I feel like I didn't enjoy this season as much as the first one. But I also think I need to let it percolate for a while and come back to it. When I rewatched the first season in preparation for this one I liked it even more than I remembered. I think Sherlock gets better with age, like a fine wine. ;)
