So yeah. I'm a freaking happy bunny.

How often does a season finale live up to its own hype?

Not freaking often. So I'm having some problems writing in full sentences regarding this pair of episodes, so let me paraphrase my thoughs for you:

GORAN VISNJIC - OH MY FREAKING GOD! (and can we spend at least a little time playing with the Croatian connection plz? Is anyone writing that yet? Can I bribe anyone to?)

Gun weilding Eliot with the line we have been waiting for for SO LONG? HOLY SHIT
Eliot with a 'it doesn't matter if I die so long as you actually do this thing' speech? I NEARLY DIED!
Bullet-time western-style gun fight with prerequisite explosion? FUCK YEAH
Train jump, glowing bomb and glowing bomb disarmament? GO HARDISON! :D

Eliot's backstory, at least an hour of ANGRY FACE, and about three self-destructs in the same amount of time. I DID DIE :(

Stealing an election, and a country!? *facepalm* Dear god they win so hard.
Sophie's death? (again!) So much win.

THE LAST COUPLE OF SECONDS? HOLY FUCKING SHIT THEY CLOSED LESS THAN PERFECT FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (ahem... sorry, got a bit carried away there)

So yeah, I'll write the cleaned up closing for Less Than Perfect over Christmas, with Eliot's reconnection and return next season with fresh Nate/Sophie/Eliot eyes.

I know, right???!!! (On all the above *g*)

Seriously, I love these eps, but especially BJJ, so freakin' hard!! That scene in the park, with Eliot breaking right there before the team? I died. Then Parker asks him, and he begs her not to ask because he'll tell her … and I died again.

And then, Jesus, the gunfight. Eliot as a badass, motherfuckin' GUNSLINGER!!! I may have made embarrassing noises throughout …

Seriously, we get a gunfight AND a train robbery? How much do these writers love us???

Pretzels … Nate and Sophie doing the deed, Eliot/Damian … I mean, eh, Eliot used to work for Moreau (man's surrounded by half nekkid chicks, and he only has eyes for Eliot; I'm just sayin') … we get to see Eliot's other guns (I died again, while making more embarrassing noises) … and Eliot doesn't want his family to know what he did to protect them. *sniff*

And Sophie as Eva Peron. I just adore our Grifter Queen!

Oh, and Eliot's happy little boy vibe at the end as he kicks in the door.

ELIOT WITH A PUPPY!! IN GLASSES!!! (Eliot, not the puppy)

So, um, yeah, I kind of enjoyed it.

ZOMG - I FORGOT ABOUT THE PUPPY :|

Where the hell did that scene come from? The fact that it was almost all aimed at the camera (ie - at Moreau) makes me want to write something cracky where the thing that has Eliot close to tears in the previous ep (the worst thing he's ever done) was putting down his and Moreau's puppy or something ridiculous like that XD

I loved that by that point they were just overtly poking Moreau in the eye. *g*

I also loved the little Parker-Eliot beats. First in the park, then in SLJ, down in the tombs, when he realizes they can't get Flores out and she asks, "Are you okay?" Parker knows Big Brother is hurting. *sniffle*

Oh, and the very understated but so *there* grown-up relationship between Eliot and Nate. Nate knows exactly who and what Eliot is, and he wuvs him anyway.

I LOVE THESE PEOPLE!!!

I swear, if I didn't have to start wrapping presents (I am NOT staying up all of Christmas Eve doing it) I'd be writing so hard my fingers would be bleeding. These two eps just gave us so much! Manna from Rogers. *g*

I need a resolution between Eliot and Hardison. And I need Mama Sophie to tend broken!Eliot. I need to dig into Eliot/Moreau. And … and …

I think my brain is cramping. *g*

Worst thing is? My thesis isn't finished yet. *face-palm* I fail so bad. I have decided, though, that I will take some time off to write as hard as possible now and over christmas eve/day/boxing day before coming back to it on the run up to new years.

It's only gonna be one and a half months late...

Good luck with the brain cramp and subsequent outpouring of ridiculously awesome fic :D

Wandered over. And then saw this and wanted to finalesquee with you a bit. Hi! :)

Goran Visnjic!!! And, okay, I don't do slash of any kind (partly because it's an OOC thing, and partly because I'm basically just a gen girl at heart), but I was watching the Eliot-Moreau scenes going, THAT IS A LOT OF CHEMISTRY RITE THAR. *shivers*

Um. What's the line?

Ha, when they "stole a country", I was like, been there, done that, bought the tights. Totally had a Moment. :D:D

I loved the angry face, but what REALLY got me was how bouncy he was at the end. I mean, he'd been dreading his team's encounter with his past ALL YEAR, and getting progressively more stressed about it, and now EVERYTHING'S BACK TO NORMAL and more than that, they've kind of found out now and THEY STILL LOVE AND ACCEPT HIM and he's grinning and bouncing and not even sniping with Hardison.

Well, that, and the park thing. It was all standard angsty dark background stuff (done incredibly well, but still), and then he did that thing again where in the middle of something I think I know what to expect from him, he completely switches gear and shows how in control of himself he is. GUH. THAT is what gets me with him, every time – his conversation with Nate in the pilot at the pool table was what turned me into a fan, with the way he handled the "Eliot, we are not friends" douchebaggery. In the park, it was the fact that after telling Parker not to ask, he realised she didn't get why he said that and steps out from all the seething guilt and explains it to her. This kind of thing makes him one of the few characters who is genuinely not self-centred, who's not ruled by their own emotional turmoil. Which, to my mind, makes him the most mature. YES PLZ.

Uh. How 'bout I just friend you back? Can't promise to read all the fic, but I can squee and meta with you. :)

Please friend :) I like those.

Also, you stole a country in way more style than they did. They just faked up and an election, I mean... anyone could do that. ROFL.

"The Line" was (paraphrases due to it being too late to go find it) "I thought you didn't like guns?" "I don't, but THAT DOESN'T MEAN I CAN'T USE THEM" (mwahaha, watch me shoot you dead). I pretty much chanted it with him. Though to get out from under the slightly psycho Eliot I could probably have done with a grin or something life-like after that point. It has appeared in a lot of fics - well, pretty much every one ever where Eliot has a gun. I wrote one once where he was just an epically crap shot, but I couldn't make it read in character. Eliot is good at everything... damn him.

I agree entirely with your view on the park scene. Epic beyond proportions, and something we might not have trusted to be real out of season 1 Eliot. (if you see what I mean) He's really been grounded with the team in the last couple of years, and it's changed our perceptions of him and his interactions with them quite a lot.

The last scene though... I'm still working through my feelings on it. I've tried a couple of times to attack a 'Less than perfect' ending out of that scene, but while I think I have Nate and Sophie down pat and with commendations for good behaviour... I haven't worked Eliot out yet. I'm not sure what he's thinking. There's too much that happens in that last two parter for me to resolve in one 'happily ever after' fic, especially with Less than Perfect's precedence. ARG. :D

So... umm... sorry, got carried away there. :)

Hey, me too! :)

They just faked up and an election, I mean... anyone could do that.

Anybody does, right?

Ah, the Line. See, I read almost no Leverage fic, and certainly not anything that has Eliot picking up guns, so that explains that. Of course, it made me chuckle because it's so standard that Neal Caffery used it, too. Verbatim, I think. I would have been happier with a simple, "I don't". Watching it, all my Cool instincts were screaming STOP THERE! C'mon, Eliot, you don't have to explain yourself! But his hair more than made up for it. I have never been more distracted by it (in the good way), and I rarely am, either. Even in the park, which is saying something.

wrote one once where he was just an epically crap shot, but I couldn't make it read in character.

That sounds brilliant! Did you post it?

Eliot is good at everything... damn him.

Except being obedient, it seems. :D

I haven't worked Eliot out yet. I'm not sure what he's thinking.

I'm pretty convinced it's simplye giddiness from relief, this big black cloud no longer looming before him, of being found out and rejected by the team, and clear skies ahead. He may not have achieved atonement or redemption, but maybe this is what absolution looks like. That's my take, but then, I don't have to screw it around to fit an established fic-verse! Can I help (at least without reading through the whole verse)? What thoughts have you got so far on him?

I didn't post that fic. I'll maybe have another run at it some time. I have some OCD tendancies and when I couldn't get it to work it kind of slid into my standard pattern for fic, which is something I've been trying really hard not to stop (to the point of working out of a new alias to aid dissociation).

I think you're probably totally right about that last scene, and I should be able to make that fit with the verse without too much faffing, but my brain is being objectionable. As usual. I will maybe potter over onto the PM service and have a chat with you when I start writing it. :) As Christmas is now over I'm back at work for a couple of days before the new year, but hopefully once my thesis is done (ha!) I will have some more time to think about fic.
