I had an epic virus battle last night, and the computer seems to have recovered though it's limping a little. I'm going to do a backup and then clean it down to the OS. In the meantime, anyone on here who is used to receiving emails from me, just be really sure to check that anything you get is really from me. My usual rambling style should be in evidence, and I'm not in the habit of sending round circulars.

Day 13 – Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?

Oops, I managed to answer this earlier. I enjoy writing in canon, and find that fanon rarely changes the original, just adds that little spin. For example, I took it as canon that the Doctor was deathly allergic to aspirin, but it's just fanon that's come from the older series of Doctor Who. This doesn't detract or contradict the canon at all, it's just an extra facet. The same thing goes for the twins in LotR - their whole personalities are fanon and yet don't clash with canon. I think overall I would prefer to play in canon, but I'm not against being creative with my canon.

So now sheryden and moonchildfic have both done this one, I feel like I have to make a go at it. Problem is I'm not very good at naming files in ways that makes sense to anyone but me.
